Where to Eat Near Zhejiang University (浙江大学)

Zhejiang University (ZJU) is spread across several campuses, and each has its own eating ecosystem. This guide is organised by campus and area, with price bands, so you can find a cheap meal within walking distance wherever your classes are.

Short answer: Canteens are the cheapest option (roughly ¥10–20 a meal). Around Zijingang, students head to the small-eats streets near campus (about ¥10–30 a head) and the malls to the south for group meals. Around Yuquan, the campus restaurant and the Huanglong area are the go-tos. Delivery reaches every dorm gate.

Zijingang Campus (紫金港校区)

  • Getting there: Metro Lines 2 and 5 serve the campus; Line 5’s Zhejiang University Zijingang station (浙大紫金港) is just outside the south gate.
  • Canteens: several large canteens across campus — the cheapest and most varied option for everyday meals.
  • North Street (北街): student favourite for BBQ, coffee and convenience shops just off campus.
  • The student snack street known on campus as 堕落街: milk tea, snacks and fast food at around ¥10–30 per head.
  • Cambridge Community (剑桥公社) and Zhegang International (浙港国际): clusters of BBQ and restaurants for group dinners.
  • Malls for group meals and a change of scene: Xixi Intime (西溪银泰), Longhu Zijing Tianjie (龙湖紫荆天街) and Longhu Xixi Tianjie (龙湖西溪天街) — chains, hotpot and dessert.

Yuquan Campus (玉泉校区)

  • Getting there: the campus sits on Zheda Road (浙大路) north of West Lake; Metro Line 3 stations in the Huanglong/Gudang area are the closest — check Amap for the best gate.
  • Liangyuan (靓园): the well-known restaurant inside Yuquan campus — a step up from the canteen without leaving campus.
  • Huanglong area (黄龙): a short walk or ride away, with malls, noodle shops and chains.
  • West Lake nearby: Yuquan is the closest main campus to the lake — combine dinner with a sunset walk up Baoshi Hill.
Other Campuses
  • Zhijiang Campus (之江校区): home to the law school, on a hillside above the Qiantang River — beautiful but quieter, so canteens and delivery matter more.
  • Xixi (西溪) and Huajiachi (华家池) campuses: central locations with ordinary city restaurants all around; use Dianping to find the best-rated spots nearby.
  • Bus 89 links Zijingang and Yuquan if you have classes on both.
How Students Actually Eat
  • Weekday lunch: canteen. Weeknight dinner: canteen or a noodle shop. Late night: delivery or BBQ.
  • Delivery goes to dorm gates or pick-up shelves, not your room — check the pick-up code in the app.
  • Dianping ratings and Xiaohongshu posts (search 浙大 美食) are the fastest way to find what is good this semester.
